Hello everyone,
Version 1.0.9 rebuilds how Serento decides who an artist is, and puts the pictures, the biographies and the details that follow from it on firmer ground.
Please do a sync with the server/servers for all the changes to apply.
NEW
One identity per artist. Serento now makes a single decision about who an artist is, based on the records you actually own, and everything shown about them reads that one decision: biography, portrait, origin, years active, genres. It also records how sure it is and what decided it. When the evidence is not there, the honest answer is nothing at all, rather than another person’s life story.
Artist photos from the encyclopedia article. When your server has no portrait and the music service offers only an album sleeve, Serento can now use the photograph from the artist’s own encyclopedia article. The order is unchanged: your own indexArtwork folder still comes first.
IMPROVED
Artist pictures are checked before they are used. A picture that is really one of the artist’s own album covers is refused, even when it is a different file of the same image, and so is one with the artist’s name printed across it. Where no real photograph exists, the microphone placeholder stays.
Pictures from your indexArtwork folder now include AlbumArtist, are looked for in the order MinimServer documents, and reach every artist, including those without a container of their own. A portrait found on one server is shared with the others that publish the same library.
A correction is a correction everywhere. Correct an album’s title, artist, year or genre and the list shows it, sorts by it, finds it in search and files it under the right letter in the A-Z bar. Until now the correction appeared only on the album’s own screen.
Restore Original Metadata keeps the sheet open, so you can carry on editing by hand after the server’s values come back.
The Statistics cards are one design on every platform.
FIXED
Recently Added works on servers that answer with the albums directly. Some publish that shelf with one level where Serento expected two, and a whole library could come back ordered by release year instead of by the day you added it.
Albums are no longer merged by accident. Folders named with roman numerals, and names like MIX, CD, DVD or MC, were read as disc numbers, so separate albums collapsed into one and, in Folders, a whole genre could appear as a single album.
Artists who share a name with someone else get their details back. Where the evidence existed and was being discarded, it is now used.
Coming back from an album keeps your place in the list. Touching a search field left it holding focus, and the keyboard returning scrolled the list to the top.
Back returns you where you came from, in Classical too, and a playlist deleted while it is playing no longer strands the queue.
An album opened from Folders no longer reports that it is missing.
On iPad, the audio output and volume panels are drawn by Serento, so the small arrow pointing at the button is part of the panel instead of a second surface beside it. Listen Later is split into sections by kind, and tracks are shown as tracks.
The privacy policy now declares the add-only Photos permission used when you save a Share image, and the track notes and per-device settings that sync with your other devices.
Many bug fixes and other small improvements.
