Artists separated by “+” aren’t always separated- example: “Steve Hogarth + Richard Barbieri” show as one artist when they are two.
I also have an artist containing an & which is split when it shouldn’t be: “Travis & Fripp”, which is giving me 2 artists, both of which are wrong.
Perhaps it’s worth having a manual override option in sync settings where the user can specify certain artist which should or should not be split - else this could be an infinite niggle.

I forgot to mention that artist detection is a very difficult problem to solve when you don’t have access to a reliable source of data. That source of data should be a complete and up to date database. Unfortunately, I only have access to MusicBrainz. The AllMusic database, which is better, is prohibitively expensive and only accessible to corporate clients (as far as I understand).
So expect an ongoing refinement of the detection algorithm. It is going to take a while until all the edge cases are taken care of.
