This now works nicely but the subtitle is truncated too much on the iPhone to be almost useless - “CD 1 The Best o…” for example.
2 suggestions:
This should be full width on a small viewport.
Remove the text “CD “ when there’s a subtitle - it’s noise. Only need the number of the disc in the heading if it’s needed for sorting - The disc subtitl’s point is to replace the number.
From my point of view, I deliberately provide disc subtitles and set up MinimServer the way I do because some of my music is sectioned with different versiins in an album, bonus tracks encores etc - The disc number is 95% of the time not relevant at all - it’s a bit like the save icon being a - it’s incongruous.
I’ve been experimenting with disc subtitles and all was going well until I think I went a step too far. Just using the Discsubtitle tag everything looked great and I’m going to start using them more.
The problem came when I added the Discsubtitle to the CD folder name, so my folder looked like this:-
Album Name
Disc 1 - disc number Discsubtitle
Disc 2 - disc number Discsubtitle
When I did this it split the album into two. If I remove Discsubtitle from the folder name it reverts to one album with two discs. I assumed you only used the tag information to build the library and I could put whatever in the folder name. I now assume this is not the case.
This is not a major issue, I was just adding Discsubtitle to the folder name for future reference, but could you confirm you actually do use the folder name, or am I missing something?
Serento uses certain keywords when searching for subfolders that represent the discs of an album. Disc X (where X is a number) is one of those keywords. But, if you add a subtitle after the keyword it considers it something else. In your case, another album with the same name.
Serento tries to offer a better library organisation than folder organisation so that’s why the development focus has been somewhere else and not folder browsing. I, personally, am not a big fan of it.
Either way, I will try to improve the disc detection algorithm by including subtitles after the keywords.
Thanks Lorin. This really is no big deal, I’ve just stopped adding the Discsubtitle to the folder name. If it’s something easy to fix, great, if not don’t worry on my behalf.
