I feel we need a “How big is your library” feed here, but mine is pretty big. On the iPad sync runs through without any problems, but on my iPhone it hangs at 3147 albums. Sometimes it’ll sit there for about 5 minutes and then come back and resume - other times it dies and has to be restarted.
The iPhone lock / power is part of this - I find I have to keep poking it to keep the phone active or it will die.
I’ve recently deleted a lot of stuff so space shouldn’t be an issue.
Hi @tiefling !
Mine is just 1300 albums so everything is pretty fast during sync. However, I’m using an iPhone 13 Pro Max as a test device, among others, and I can feel the CPU is not keeping up with iOS 26/27. It’s rather slow. Syncing in Serento is also slower then my other devices, mostly because the CPU and storage is slower. Serento saves the synced data in the local database after the server walk and that step is slower depending on the hardware. Slower CPUs with fewer cores, slower RAM and slower SSDs all contribute to this.
I’m assuming that your iPhone is an older generation because that would explain the situation you are encountering. iOS kills any background task after 2 minutes of activity. This is why your sync stops if your screen is turned off.
I implemented keeping the screen alive during a sync in the upcoming version.
Lorin.
That’s a good call - I’m on a 16 Pro, so I’m pretty up to date. It’s definitely that PARTICULAR point in the sync near the end of the album count. Once that has passed it will hold on screen lock, but resume OK. I’ve found rebooting is needed if it’s stuck there to get past it.
Oh, so it’s not a hardware issue. Interesting. If the issue persists please send me the logs capturing this situation so I can see the actual reason and fix it.
Thanks!
