Now I have Artist artwork working its created another question. In Artist view what tag is it actually using?
The reason I ask is that I have some albums where the artist tag is split but the album artist tag is not, for example:-
Album Artist tag - Erich Kunzel and Cincinnati Pops Orchestra
Artist tag - Erich Kunzel; Cincinnati Pops Orchestra
I would have thought that artist view would just have shown Erich Kunzel and Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, but it’s actually splitting into two separate artists Erich Kunzel plus Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. It’s doing the same with other similarly tagged albums. It’s as though its using the artist tag, but, that’s not possible otherwise it would be showing hundreds of different artists from complilations.
This is the expected behaviour. Serento splits the artists no matter the value in Album Artist. The reason for this is so you can click/tap on one and see all the albums of that artist. While collaborations do happen, most of the albums of an artist are solo albums so it makes sense to have the artist listed individually. The good thing is that the collaboration album appears in both artist pages. Erich Kunzel has the collaboration album and Cincinati Pops Orchestra has the same collaboration album when viewing the artist page.
I really like the way Serento is handling album artists, its really neat. It just means that I will need to rename some of my artwork, but that’s no big deal.
I’ve since run an Enrich Data and love the way that this fills in 95% of the artwork and I can use mine to fill in the blanks or replace artwork I don’t like.
